Sunday's PD had a prominent article on violence in schools; several Cleveland teachers were quoted. Any input on that issue? Contact me at My Email Address

Meryl Johnson got a write-up in the Cleveland Free Times (November 5-11,2003 issue). Of Johnson, the FT only said "No matter what the question is, Johnson's only answer is "the union.: After Oho (Talk-radio host) offered his his insights on Johnson's rabid unionism."

"Meryl is lined up," said Oho, "to be the next president of the Cleveland Teachers Union. That's why she is obsessed with mentioning the union in every sentence. That's sad, because she taught my oldest son. She was rarely in the classroom, and when she was, the major thing she had his class do was clip and read newspaper articles. Meryl is not in a position to sit on any panel and talk about improving the quality of education in Cleveland. She is a major obstacle to better education in the district."

Well, the numbers are in, and further cuts may be possible. It's a grim story for potential teachers. Unless you're looking to relocate, you might want to reconsider your career choice.

That is, unless you are Special Ed licensed. For that speciality, there are MULTIPLE openings everywhere, both city and suburban.
